Facebook Email: Good or Bad?
By play19921
Recent news unveils the release of the all new facebook email. I will give you a few things to consider when you decide who to use for your emails.
Firstly, @facebook.com email addresses will give people a direct link to your facebook profile. Some people want their profile to be for personal use and nothing more. It can be considered quite unprofessional to give your boss a social network as a way of communicating with you. You have a lack of privacy when you give out your profile to anyone who needs your email.
Secondly, many businesses and corporations are now blocking facebook.com on company computers to discourage employees from wasting company time on social networks. Do you really want your personal email blocked when you are at work?
Also, have you or any of your friends ever had your facebook hacked? Spammers and Phishers hack facebook accounts all the time. If you have your paypal or ebay account information on that email then you can easily lose that account also. Do you really want to lose everything if you facebook gets hacked or stolen?
In my personal opinion, social networks and personal emails should be kept separate, it might be nice having everything centralized, but that makes you more vulnerable.
